For ‘Nothing Left’, I wanted to write about something that gets pointed out to me a lot: I can be very stubborn. The first chorus essentially encapsulates what a debate with me is like, changing my mind is like trying to will the tide in the other direction with a plastic bucket, both are futile exercises. The chorus is my confession, even when I know I’m in the wrong, I will brawl until my last breath to be right. Through all of this, I feel it becomes clear that I do not like this part of myself, and is something I’d rather change, so for me, the song is an attempt to exorcise my demons almost, and hopefully become less of an arse.
